Kevin Bacon has provided His iconic 1984 film “Footloose” was made on his promise to return to Utah high school.
Bacon made an appearance at Payson High School on Saturday, months after students at the school started the #BacontoPayson social media campaign. As part of the effort, students recreated movie scenes and dance videos in hopes of catching the actor's attention so he could appear at the school's prom.
Payson High School is set to relocate at the end of the school year.
“When I first heard about this Bacon to Payson thing, I was like, 'Wow, this is crazy.' But you all were so tireless,” Bacon said in his speech on the school's football field Saturday. ABC7. “You spoke to me.”
Bacon said he appreciates the student's dedication.

As part of Payson High School's effort to bring Bacon back to campus, they have pledged to make 5,000 essential resource kits to help the Sixdegrees.org Foundation. As part of that, the organization aims to pack and distribute up to 40,000 kits. “Footloose40” Try.
In his speech on Saturday, Bacon thanked the students for “making the return of a movie star a very positive one.”
Bacon was presented with an honorary Payson High School diploma, posed for photos with students and even shook his locker during his visit, according to Bacon's video released. Instagram Saturday Stories.
“Footloose” was released in 1984 and starred Bacon as a teenager who moves to a small town that prohibits dancing. The film culminates in a prom, which is still a foothold 40 years later.
