NEW YORK (AP) — It’s Donald Trump The campaign released an update on the former president’s health on Saturday, a week after he survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The Texas representative served as Trump’s White House physician. Ronnie Jackson’s memoir provides new details about the nature of the GOP candidate’s injuries and the treatment he received immediately after the attack.
According to Jackson, Trump suffered a gunshot wound to the right ear from a high-powered rifle that “came less than a quarter of an inch into the head and struck the top of the right ear.”
The bullet track “created a 2 cm wide wound that extended to the cartilaginous surface of the ear. Initially there was significant bleeding followed by significant swelling throughout the upper ear.

“Given the extensive and blunt nature of the wound, stitches are not required,” he wrote.
Trump was first treated by medical staff at Butler Memorial Hospital. According to Jackson, doctors “provided a thorough evaluation for additional injuries that included a CT scan of his head.”
Trump said, “There will be additional evaluations, including a comprehensive hearing exam as needed. “He will follow up with his primary care physician as directed by the physicians who initially evaluated him,” he wrote.
“In short, former President Trump is doing well and is recovering as expected from the shooting last Saturday afternoon,” he added.

It is unclear whether Jackson is a licensed physician. A congressional spokeswoman did not immediately provide a response and did not immediately respond to questions from the Trump campaign.
