Denis Villeneuves Hill Warner Bros. announced on Thursday (August 24) that the sequel has officially been delayed until March 15, 2024.
The news comes amid a historic Hollywood shutdown, with both the actors’ and writers’ unions currently on strike.
A delay till 12 April 2024 was simultaneously announced Godzilla x Kong: The New EmpireIt was earlier set on March 14 that year.
Meanwhile, the studio’s big December 2023 releases are now on hold — and they are Wonka (December 15), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (20 December) and Color is purple (25 December).
A month ago, IMAX CEO Richard Gelfonte said reports The Hill: Part Two Delay is “not true”. “I feel strongly that it’s not going to move,” he said of the film’s earlier 3 November 2023 release date.
Timothee Chalamet stars in the lead role of Paul Atretus in the film franchise based on Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction book saga of the same name.
New to the cast to join the sequel is Austin Butler, an unrecognizable Austin Butler as the fearsome Feit-Rauta Harkonen, younger nephew and heir to Baron Vladimir Harkonen (Stellan Skarsgård).
Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot, Bene Gesserit, joins Souheela Yacoub and Tim Blake Nelson as Fremen warriors.
Reprising their roles from the 2021 film are Salemette, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling and Stephen McKinley Henderson.

Shortly after the “jaw-dropping” first trailer was released at this year’s CinemaCon, Zendaya assured fans about her screen time in the upcoming film.
“He’s not just in dreams this time,” the actor said, pointing to previous complaints about his limited appearance in the first movie, which publicity led heavily to his role.
Villeneuve described the sequel as “an epic war movie” and “much denser” than the first film.
“The Hill: Part Two Along with Chaney and the Fremen, Paul will explore the legendary journey of Atreides while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family,” reads the film’s official logline.
“Faced with a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he tries to prevent a terrifying future that only he can foresee.”
The actors’ strike is now in its second month after the 160,000-member SAG-AFTRA union voted to join striking Hollywood writers. .
In a recent interview, Pose Star Billy Porter said he had already had to sell his house in response to the strikes.
