Ty Pennington, host of HGTV Rock the Block And Battle on the Beach, He shared On Instagram He is recovering from a throat tumor that landed him in the intensive care unit of a Colorado hospital.
Pennington’s airway was blocked, requiring intubation. He recovered two days after attending Barbie Premiere in Los Angeles.
Bennington is a former host Trading places And Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
“From the red carpet, to the ICU… this past week has been interesting! I am fine now and still recovering,” he wrote. “To shed some light on why I’ve been MIA…I hit the red carpet for @barbiethemovie on Sunday; Monday I went to Colorado to start filming in Breckinridge and Tuesday morning I woke up at 4am and couldn’t breathe. The sore throat I’ve had for the past month is actually an abscess that has grown so large it’s blocking my airway.
“The next thing I know, I’m intubated in the ICU in Denver,” he continued. “I underwent surgery on Wednesday and was discharged from the ICU yesterday afternoon. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff at St.Anthony’s in Lakewood, CO & Summit Health in Frisco for taking such great care of me. A great reminder to listen to your body when it’s telling you #justhappytobehere And it’s good to see that I’m still in the right frame of mind even with heavy sedation (pic 4)…”
Bennington attended Barbie premiere Sunday to promote HGTV’s four-part special Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge. She will compete on one of eight teams of HGTV stars who will transform a Southern California home into a real-life version of Barbie’s pink palace.
The series premieres on July 16 at 8 PM
