At the international box office, we understand the Wes Paul-directed installment is up to $31M from Friday. As Anthony said, expect a $52M-$55M opening for the domestic full frame.
Overseas, we’re looking at $70M. As we mentioned in our preview, the obstacle here is China. too Monkeys Coming in at No. 1 in the frame, it was a soft market last session on a big holiday weekend. This includes a Saturday working day. The Maoyan (9.1) and TPP (9.2) scores are good, but the Douban review is not so hot at 6.7, the lowest in the recent series. Estimates for the start of the unreliable market are around $11M.
Looking at foreign comps and today’s exchange rates, 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes $62M internationally ($8M from China). In 2014, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes $127M ($37M in China) and did in 2017 War for the Planet of the Apes $130M in output ($56M from China).
So, based on the predictions we hear, Kingdom From the top of the pack to the middle.
We understand that there have been positive starts in Latin America, France, the Netherlands and other parts of Europe – where, in some areas, summer weather is now present. Elsewhere, there are mixed results.
Top 5 markets Friday to Friday: France ($4.8M), China ($3M), Mexico ($2.4M), UK ($2M) and Germany ($1.3M).
The above does not include Saturday numbers in China and Korea, which ran to $6.7M and $2.1M, respectively.
