Seinfeld star Peter Crombie died Wednesday at the age of 71 after battling an unknown illness. TMZ.

The Hollywood actor – best known for portraying the character Crazy Joe Davola in the beloved sitcom – died 'quickly' due to ill health, according to his ex-wife Nadine Kijner.

However, the nature of the disease is yet to be revealed, as are other details regarding his death.

Crombie's ex-wife told the outlet: 'He was a very kind, very caring, giving, caring man. He was loved by all, generous, and never said anything bad about anyone.

A close friend of the late star Bill Stedts, Peter described him as 'a gentle and loyal friend of soft words and expressive work as an actor and writer'.

Crombie appeared in a total of five episodes throughout 1992 and 1993 while portraying the role of Crazy Joe Davola on Seinfeld.

Some of the episodes he has appeared in include The Opera, The Watch, The Pitch and The Pilot.

During his time on the show, Davola was an antagonist on Seinfeld and, at one point, briefly dated Jerry's best friend Elaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Seinfeld aired for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998 and had a total of 180 episodes.

Other actors on the show include Jason Alexander, who portrayed George, and Michael Richards, who played Jerry's neighbor, Cosmo Kramer.

Peter took on other roles throughout his career in film projects such as My Dog Skip, The Blob, Natural Born Killers and Se7en.

He also appeared in other television shows, including two episodes of NYPD Blue (1998), House of Frankenstein (1997) and LA Law (1994).

His first credited acting role was playing the late actor IMDB page, It was in the TV movie Broken Vows starring Tommy Lee Jones and Annette O'Toole.

In the project released in 1987 – Crombie tackled the character of Don Phelan.

Walker's last credited role was in 2000 when he played Detective Moody in the hit series Texas Ranger.

Peter got behind the camera and was the writer of the 2006 short film Threshold.
