Riddick’s message to Jets: ‘Win the Super Bowl or shut up’

Louis Riddick reveals his expectations for the New York Jets this offseason by adding Aaron Rodgers.

The The New York Jets have agreed to trade wide receiver Denzel Mims to the Detroit Lions, it was confirmed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday night.

The source said the Lions would receive a 2025 seventh-round pick in the deal, while the Jets would receive a 2025 conditional sixth-round pick.

Mims, a second-round pick in 2020, was notified earlier Wednesday that he would be waived if he was not traded, a source told ESPN, confirming the news first reported by the New York Post.

He was waived from training camp and did not report with the rest of the team. The move was not surprising, as Mims failed to establish a consistent role and had just 42 catches for 676 yards while failing to score a touchdown in three seasons.

Mims was seen as the fifth or sixth receiver on the depth chart, and he doesn’t play on special teams, reducing his value in the team’s eyes.

The trade, first reported by SNY, is the latest move in a shakeup at wide receiver for the Jets, who traded and declined 2021 second-round pick Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns in March. Re-sign Braxton Berrios, a former All-Pro kick returner with the Miami Dolphins.
